Microviable will be present at the National Symposium of the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology ( SEIMC – Sociedad Española de Enfermedades Infecciosas y Microbiología Clínica).

From May 28-30, the SEIMC National Congress will be held in Bilbao, bringing together researchers and clinical staff in the fields of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology.

Pilar Manrique, PhD, Production Manager, and Noelia Martinez Alvarez, PhD, R&D Director, will present the latest results of the investigational medicine MVT-201 and its applications in infectious diseases caused by antibiotic-resistant pathogens.

MVT-201 is a donor-dependent product containing the ultrapurified microbiota of a healthy donor, administered as an oral capsule. MVT-201 has demonstrated 98% efficacy in eliminating antibiotic-resistant pathogens in murine models of intestinal infection and is currently being tested in other infection models.

Furthermore, data analysis conducted by our bioinformatics department has allowed us to identify the bacteria with the greatest influence on this efficacy enabling to develop a new product, MVT-3501, a defined consortium of bacteria (Live Biotherapeutic Product, LBP), with a unique composition of strains from Microviable’s proprietary collection. This product is scalable through fermentation, donor-independent, and is currently under development.
