Last Tuesday, Microviable Therapeutics attended the talks of Bonnie L. Bassler and Peter Greenberg, 2023 Princess of Asturias of Scientific and Technical research awards.
Both explained their work on the phenomenon of quorum sensing, the main communication system between bacteria. This communication has a big influence on human health, specifically in the case of bacterial infections, such as cholera, or the ones caused by bacterial biofilms, such as dental calculus or chronic urinary infections. Another proof that investing in the study of the gut microbiome it´s essential for finding a solution to an important urgent health emergency like the multi-drug resistant bacterial infections.
