We are looking for a full-time, highly motivated Computational Biologist to work on our team towards the development of novel biotherapeutic products.

About Microviable

Microviable Therapeutics is a preclinical stage biotech company developing a novel class of orally administered biological drugs based on microbiota-derived products.

Microviable is developing two classes of unique products based on complete microbiota and rationally defined and designed bacterial consortia to address unmet challenges in human diseases. Microviable’s current pipeline includes preclinical data for our lead candidate seeking to perform clinical trials by the end of 2022.

Position

We are seeking a Computational Biologist or Bioinformatician with experience in comparative genomics, metagenomics, other omics and statistics including large data set analysis, to join our team. You will contribute to several programs at Microviable including the development of novel biotherapeutic products based on bacterial consortia.

The successful applicant will be directly reporting to and working closely with the R&D Director and supporting all the team members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with comparative genomics, metagenomics data analysis and statistics.
  • Perform large data set analysis and develop reports
  • Build, develop and implement automatize pipelines
  • Ideate and be proactive in the development of new strategies for data analysis, representation and interpretation.
  • Ideate and contribute to the development of new research outputs
  • Support ongoing research programs
  • Work collaboratively to our microbiologists to advance the microbiome platform
  • Communicate research and development plans, experimental outcomes to various audiences including other team members, clinicians, and stakeholders

Requirements

  • PhD in Bioinformatics – Statistics – Computational Biology preferred.
  • BS in Informatics, Mathematics or Statistics.
  • Industry experience desire
  • Previous experience in metagenomics and omics data analyses.
  • Large data set analyses experience with strong skills in statistics
  • Demonstrated experience with lynux, python, R and others.
  • Ability to optimize and develop bioinformatic pipelines
  • Ability to independently carry out research projects and generate relevant data outputs.
  • Highly motivated and organized

  • Perform data analysis and develop reports.
  • Ideate and contribute to the development of new research outputs.
  • Support ongoing research programs.
  • Communicate research and development plans, experimental outcomes to various audiences including other team members, clinicians, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or similar, with microbiology and or immunology expertise.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects.
  • Industry experience is desired.
  • Demonstrated experience in microbiology with strict anaerobic bacteria, microbiota or probiotics focus.
  • Ability to independently carry out research projects and generate relevant data outputs.
  • Proven ability to design new microbiological and immunological assays to characterize host-microbial interactions.
  • Experience generating datasets and documentation for intellectual property filing or IND-filing
  • Willingness to learn, perform and work collaboratively

  • Propose new ideas and hypothesis on host-microbial interaction to unravel the mechanism of action of bacterial health-promoting effects
  • Work closely with other microbiologist and with data scientists to test hypothesis and generate large datasets
  • Perform data analysis and develop reports

Qualifications

  • PhD preferred but not mandatory.
  • BS or MS in Biochemistry, Biology, Med or similar, with expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, and microbiology
  • Industry experience is desired
  • Ability to execute efficiently in a timely manner working collaboratively with other colleagues.
  • Demonstrated experience in biochemistry, molecular biology and or microbiology applied to bacterial-host interactions
  • Ability to independently carry out research projects and generate relevant data outputs.
  • Proven ability to design and carry out new experimental assays with a wide range of techniques and technologies including omics
  • Strong communication skills

Position

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time accountant and administration for supporting the corporate accounting, accounts payable and receivables, financial reporting, ordering and other administrative tasks including quality certifications and quality management system.

The successful applicant will be directly reporting to and working closely with the executive team and supporting all the team members.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor accounting, perform and manage routine finance operations like purchase orders, invoice processing, bill payment, accounts payable and receivable.
  • Assist with quarter-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial statements that are accurate and clear.
  • Work with the R&D and sales departments to help prepare budgets and consolidate them into overall corporate budget for approval by the executive team.
  • Assist with tax and labor legislation coordinating communication with our external consulting firm.
  • Prepare and assist others preparing project applications and project reports to fulfill the requirements for private and government contracts, fellowships, and other sources of funding.
  • Lead administrative documentation for quality certifications and quality management system as well as implement new standards to improve corporate processes.
  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree in administration, economics or similar.
  • 3-5 years experience.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills with the ability to work effectively with coworkers at all levels and across all functions.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
